How to Manage Agent License Tracking

April 1, 2026

Brokerages with more than a handful of agents quickly discover that manually tracking license expiration dates is error-prone. An agent practicing on an expired license exposes the brokerage to liability and disciplinary action. Building a simple tracking system removes that risk entirely.

The most straightforward approach is a shared spreadsheet listing each agent name, license number, expiration date, and CE completion status. Set calendar reminders 90, 60, and 30 days before each expiration. DBPR allows brokers to look up license status by license number through the online verification tool, providing real-time information.

Some brokerage management platforms integrate directly with DBPR and can automate license status checks across your entire roster. Assign one person to own license tracking rather than distributing the responsibility where it tends to fall through the cracks and cause compliance problems.
